Lattice2 : Replicates a Part Design feature at every placement (Basic Pattern Approach)

Lattice2 has a tool that is dedicated to creating part design patterns. This tool replicates a part design feature at every placement and creates it as a feature on your part design model. There are two approaches to this and we are going to first look at the basic approach. The other approach requires placement and a second sketch of right angle guides to place the pattern at the desired locations. To use this tool we will take a part design body.

And add a feature, let say a latch.

Jump over to the Lattice2 workbench and. Now hide the features that created the latch by moving up the treeview until the latch disappears. We need to find the feature that gives us a single edge to repeat the feature across. Select the edge (you can see it highlighted in green).

create a Linear array on the top edge by clicking the top edge of the model and clicking on the top menu > lattice2 > linear array > linear array span / N.

Unhide the last feature that you want to repeat (mines the feature that creates the latch)

Now ctrl click all the actions that created the latch of the feature (mines the previous to last and last pad in the treeview) and then ctrl click the linear array.

Now select the top menu > lattice2 menu > Lattice part design pattern.

A lattice pattern had now been created. We can now select the linearArray and change the Generator Mode to Step N, the step we can adjust so it spans the full length, and the count for the amount of repeats.

We have now completed the linear pattern.

Lets try this with a polar array. Create a feature in the par design attached say to the center face. I have created a simple post.

In the lattice2 workbench select the face that you want to create the top menu > lattice2 > polar array. You will see the attachment menu appear on the left. Select YX on Plane.

Click OK and ctrl select the polar array and the feature (the post) and then select top menu > lattice2 > lattice part design feature. You will now see a polar pattern added to the treeview of your part.

Modeling Flowcharts For Basic Beginners FreeCAD v1

Th following flowcharts are used in the Basic Beginners FreeCAD v1 course.  They consist of two flows, one for simplifying the model and one for identifying the individual features and how to model them.   The flowcharts can downloaded by clicking on them, they will then open in a new page, from there right click on the image and save as. Flowcharts can be found below.  Current flowchart version is version 1.0.0 Own my courses forever, check out my shop https://ko-fi.com/mang0/shop Own my courses forever,  check out my shop   https://ko-fi.com/mang0/shop

Beginners FreeCAD: Exercise 5.1 & 5.2 (Reference Images)

Welcome to the total beginners course to FreeCAD 0.20. In this is a two part lesson we will practice our tracing skill in the form of a mini project. Using the below reference photos we will create a more complex part which will consist of repeating features. We will utilise the symmetry tools to ease construction in both FreeCAD sketcher and Part Design workbench. This project work will help teach the fundamentals of freeCAD allowing a understanding of the basics but delivering this information via teaching you different workflows. In this tutorial we will be tracing photos imported into FreeCAD via the image workbench https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Image_Workbench JUMP TO IMAGES Do you want to purchase the complete series along with others and keep forever?  Check out my shop https://ko-fi.com/mang0/shop The story of this tutorial The idea and first attempt at creating this tutorial was back in FreeCAD 0.18.  The physical part itself, well, I have no idea what really it is, i...
